“The truth is, unless you let go, unless you forgive yourself, unless you forgive the situation, unless you realize that the situation is over, you cannot move forward.”

Day Fourteen: Accept
One action that can be a hint of low self-esteem is trying to control yourself and your life. Me…a while ago I had to control what I looked like when people saw me, making sure I looked good (i.e makeup on, hair styled, contact lenses in, scars covered up). It was only when I was lucky enough to find a man who loved me for the real me that I realised it’s okay to show that natural, sometimes messy side of myself!
We have to accept that we can’t control everything about ourselves all the time. Sometimes people are going to see the flaws and the less-than-perfect side, and that’s okay! We need to start showing one another we are human and perfection isn’t something to strive for.
So today, consider the question, what do you try to control in your life? Is it your looks, or maybe having the perfect looking, clean house, or perhaps appearing as the perfect mother to your friends? It might be all three! After you recognise this, it’s time to start letting go in small steps – let something slip for once. Try not wearing makeup when you pop to the shops, or admitting to your friends that you had a terrible night with your child. Accept that you can’t control everything and move forwards.
