“If you can show people how to build castles, make sure you do not neglect building and nurturing your own.”
Day Six: Nurture
I’m sure many of us spend a lot of time nurturing and caring for others, especially if you are a parent, carer or indeed just being a good friend/partner can involve a lot of nurture!
Taking care of others can definitely raise self-esteem, as it gives you a purpose and you feel good knowing you are having a positive impact on someone else’s life.
But you also must nurture yourself. Your dreams, your hobbies, your self care. Your ability to nurture others will suffer if you don’t do the same for yourself.
Today, think of three ways you can (WILL!) nurture your own self. Make them realistic and things you can fit easily into your life
Three ways I can nurture myself:
- Schedule in some time where I can come straight home from work, do yoga, snuggle on the sofa with my dog and watch Netflix
- Take myself off for a walk during the work day
- Making some time for my own hobbies and dreams – at the moment that includes writing this blog 🙂
