“When you’re different, sometimes you don’t see the millions of people who accept you for what you are. All you notice is the person who doesn’t.” –Jodi Picoult
Day Ten: Believe
When you have low self-esteem, it’s hard to believe anything positive about yourself. Your mind is constantly telling you ‘you’re useless’, ‘you’re not pretty enough’, ‘you’re not funny enough’ etc. etc.
We start to believe all the negative criticism in our minds, which is all very untrue. If your family and friends could hear what you were saying to yourself in these moments, would they be horrified? I know mine would.
If you can’t look to yourself for positivity and kindness, start with your people. Friends, family, anyone who looks out for you. What would they say are your best qualities?
What would my people say about me:
They would say I’m funny, in a silly/endearing way. People would probably also say that I’m friendly, warm and popular (my calendar is often filled with social events). They would also say that I care about what I do and about people/animals!
Next, we learn…
