31 Days of Wellbeing: Day 21

Day 21 of 31 Days of Wellbeing

This is definitely one of the hardest activities for me… I am totally in awe of anyone who can do this for more than one day per week.

Research has shown that even small amounts of processed food alter the chemical balance in our brain and cause negative mood swings along with noticeable dips ill energy. Marilu Henner

Try to go one day this week (ideally today but depends what you have already eaten so far!) without processed foods. By that I mean cakes, biscuits, crisps, sweets, fizzy drinks, ready meals, takeaways at the very least. You can take it further and rule out any items which have sugar added, including bread. For me, it is a big enough shock to my system just doing those initial few so I’m going there first!

There is definite research which shows the link between physical/mental wellbeing and what we eat. It is worth making the effort to buy fresh food and cook dinners from scratch. If you think it takes too long to cook dinners from scratch, I recommend The Body Coach recipe books – they take less than 30 minutes. Also, read my post on healthy breakfasts for the working week, five tips to cut down your sugar intake and my top five healthy foods.
