30 Day Self Esteem Challenge: Day Twenty Five

“Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.”

Day Twenty Five: Allow

Repeat after me: ‘I am human. I am allowed to make mistakes’. When you have low self-esteem, you tend to beat yourself up for every little mistake. It is draining and makes you feel even worse about yourself. I can be so guilty for doing this but I’m learning to deal with it better.

I don’t think there’s anything practical you can do – it’s more controlling your mind and not letting the negative thoughts take over. It helps me to remember that everyone makes mistakes and think ‘will this still matter a year for now?’  when it is a trivial one (answer is normally no!). If it’s a bigger mistake that does have long-lasting effects, remember you are not alone and all you can do is make amends, ensure it won’t happen again and forgive yourself.

Next, we move!
